Jun KANEKO, born in Nagoya, Japan in 1942, initially set his mind on becoming a painter when he moved to the United States in 1963. During his stay, however, his interests shifted to ceramics and began to work with artists including Jerry Rothman and Peter Voulkos. Known for large-scale works such as the Omaha Project, he is also renowned for his paintings and glass work. Recently, his activities expanded to designing opera stage sets and costumes.
Commemorating the donation of Kaneko’s works, the Museum lobby will be brightened up with his 6 colorful works. Enjoy the artist’s extraordinary ideas and creativity through his works, particularly the unique texture which can only be produced by clay and glaze.
